Designing the CRM handover for cricket sponsorship enquiries
Create clear stages, ownership and permission-aware records for sponsorship enquiries, hospitality conversations and commercial follow-up.

Separate contact records from opportunities
A cricket sponsorship CRM should distinguish people, organisations, enquiries and commercial opportunities. Someone downloading a guide or attending hospitality is not automatically a sales opportunity. Create a separate opportunity only when there is a relevant objective and an agreed reason to explore a specific offer.
Use simple stages with entry conditions: enquiry received, fit reviewed, discovery held, proposal requested, proposal issued and decision recorded. Adapt them to the business rather than adding complexity for its own sake. Every active opportunity should have an owner, next action and realistic review date.
Record the commercial context
Useful fields include organisation, business objective, geographic relevance, interested asset type, decision process and agreed next step. Keep uncertain information labelled as unconfirmed. Do not turn a host’s impression that a guest seemed interested into a confirmed budget or a forecasted sale.
An illustrative handover note could read: local employer; exploring customer events; asked for availability and total costs; marketing lead to respond Friday. This gives sales a practical starting point without inventing authority or urgency. Confirm inventory and permissions before adding specific rights to a proposal.
Keep provenance and preferences visible
Record where contact information came from, when it was collected, what the person requested and relevant privacy or marketing preferences. ICO guidance explains that business contact data may remain personal data. Subscriber classification and the applicable contact route need attention even when the commercial offer targets organisations.
Make objections and suppression visible across systems that can send messages. A CRM status alone is insufficient if an email platform continues its sequence. Where an agency manages follow-up, document responsibilities and access controls; outsourcing delivery does not automatically remove the organisation’s responsibilities as sender or instigator.
Review quality at the handover point
Run a regular review of unowned enquiries, overdue actions, missing context and opportunities without agreed next steps. Check whether proposal requests are genuinely qualified or simply requests for general information. Report held meetings separately from bookings and distinguish existing customer development from new business acquisition.
Set retention and access rules appropriate to the information and purpose. Avoid keeping unnecessary personal detail because it might someday be useful. Muntery Strategic’s CRM framework should make responsible follow-up easier to execute and audit, while allowing the sales team to explain exactly why each opportunity belongs in the pipeline.
