Fix currency mismatches in international campaign reports
Trace conflicting currencies across advertising, lead values and proposals before making international budget decisions.

Identify which numbers are actually comparable
An international campaign can show advertising costs in one currency, estimated pipeline in another and proposals in a third. The resulting return calculation may look precise while comparing incompatible amounts. Start by separating advertising spend, estimated opportunity value, contracted revenue and collected payments. These are different measures even when their currency labels match.
Choose one reporting currency for management decisions, but preserve each original amount and currency. Do not overwrite source records with converted values. A reviewer should be able to reconstruct the calculation without guessing which exchange rate somebody used.
Trace one lead through the complete journey
Select a test inquiry from each active market. Follow its advertisement, landing page, form, CRM record, proposal and reporting export. Check whether a currency symbol comes from a template, browser setting, account configuration or explicit buyer choice. A dollar symbol alone does not identify the intended currency.
Google Analytics distinguishes reporting currency from currencies supplied with event data. Its currency reference explains that currency must accompany value for accurate revenue metrics. Do not send estimated sponsorship interest as a completed purchase merely to populate a revenue chart.
Build a currency reconciliation worksheet
Create one row per test journey. Record the evidence before changing settings so the team can distinguish a display problem from a stored-data problem. Include the date of any conversion because accounting and campaign reporting may use different approved conventions.
Use a deliberately recognisable test amount rather than an ordinary commercial figure. Check the underlying event parameters as well as the dashboard. Google's revenue troubleshooting guidance warns that numeric values should not contain currency symbols.
- Record market, campaign, original amount and explicit currency code.
- Capture the CRM field, event value and reporting currency.
- Document the exchange-rate source, date and rounding rule.
- Assign an owner to every unexplained difference.
Repair the source and qualify historical comparisons
Correct the earliest broken mapping, then repeat the journey through every downstream system. Updating a dashboard label will not repair records already stored in the wrong denomination. Finance should approve treatment of invoices and contracted amounts; marketing should not silently reinterpret them.
Annotate the reporting change and explain which historical comparisons remain unreliable. Keep original-currency figures beside converted totals during the next review. Increase international spending only after decision-makers can explain how costs and commercial outcomes were normalised.
